Ed received his B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education from East Carolina University before continuing to obtain his M.S. degree in Community Counseling from Barry College (Miami, Fl). He is also a Certified Sports Counselor (CSC).

Ed boasts a very impressive football and strength career. During his time at ECU, he was voted Most Valuable Freshman Player, named to the all-conference team and played in the Blue-Gray game. Ed played several seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings. He also played in the CFL for the Montreal Alouettes.

After playing football, Ed spent 9 years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University Miami Hurricanes, helping them win 3 National Championships (1987, 1989, 1991). He was also the strength coach for the 1986 Sugar Bowl Team and the 1988 Orange Bowl Team. Ed also served as the Head Strength Coach for the Atlanta Falcons and was named the NFC Pro Bowl Strength Coach in 1981. Ed was the Florida WABL state bench press champion for 4 straight years (2003,2004,2005,2006).
